In order for this handbook to stay up-to-date, it has been periodically revised since 1987, with the author adding additional knowledge and insights gained via his latest personal survival-related experiments. Such experiments take place in locations ranging from glaciers and high mountains, to rainforests, deserts, swamps, and in the open seas. Pavlíček and his team have spent more than thirty years at Eco-Nelson (including studying survival and lifestyle techniques), as well as crossing Greenland, Alaska, the Atacama Desert, other territories in Nepal, Gran Chaco, Southern Sudan, and also the tribal areas of the Middle East.The youngest participant in these expeditions was two-and-a-half, and the oldest was 84-years-old. Some members suffered from disabilities, while others were part of special units. All of these groups could easily find themselves in survival situations, and thus welcomed special training.
